Frequently asked questions
What happens if I close the app with trail recording running?
If you accidentally or purposefully close the app or your phone dies with trail recording in progress, the app will ask you when you reopen it whether you want to continue recording and update your progress.
How do I save a hike to Planned Adventures?
Each trail/hike has a heart icon in the upper right corner. When you tap it, the hike gets saved to your Planned Adventures.
How can I save a hike to Previous Adventures?
To save a trail or hike to Previous Adventures, you first need to complete the hike with the Adventurer app turned on (i.e. with the trail recording feature enabled) or just enable the feature at the destination point of the hike to gain experience points - the trail and experience points will be saved to your profile afterward.
How can I gain experience points?
To gain experience points, you have to overcome a hike with the Adventurer app turned on (i.e. with the trail recording feature enabled) or just enable the feature at the destination point of the hike to get experience points - the completed hike and experience points will then be automatically added to your profile. In case you start recording at the destination point, you must take that your profile will show your performance with zero results.
Loop, as a special type of trail - in the case of a loop/circuit, there is always a hidden checkpoint in the half of the trail. You need to go through this point to get exp. It will be visible on the map in the next update so that you never miss it :).
Do I need to turn on trail recording or open the app before setting off to gain experience points?
Performance and trail metrics are just additional features and aren't required to gain experience points. To gain experience points, you only need to open the app at any trail's destination point (or in the checkpoint for the loop trail type) and enable the performance recording feature. The app tracks your movement and evaluates whether you're actually at the destination point. If you're at least 50-200 meters away from a trail's goal, animation plays and experience points are automatically added to your profile.
In case you start recording at the destination point, you must take that your profile will show your performance with zero results.
Does the app work in the mountains and other places without internet access?
The Adventurer app works both online and offline. But beware! Offline mode is only available in the app's PRO version - Adventurer Club. Without an Adventurer Club membership, mobile data access is needed for the app to work properly.
I did not find my favorite hike in the app, can I suggest it as a new trail for the Adventurer app?
Yes, we will gladly look over any ideas for new trails. You can send your suggestions to info@adventurer.space.
Is it possible to plan and create own trails in the app?
This option is not available yet, but we plan to add it and make it available for all users during the summer of 2022.
Is it possible to switch to a private profile?
Yes. You can do this directly from your profile by tapping the "Edit profile" button. Inside, you will find a button to switch to private mode.
What do the statistics record?
The statistics cumulatively record data from hikes completed with the Adventurer app turned on - distance, elevation, time in motion, number of completed hikes.
The overall summary currently only includes data from completed trails offered by the Adventurer app after gaining experience points. We are preparing summary statistics from all performance measurements - coming soon.
How often do you add new hikes?
We add new hikes once a week.
